It feels good to do things for other people, but people have a tendency of growing to rely on those acts of service. However, you might feel about helping others, there are some requests that are just outright unreasonable. WiFi is a highly personal thing, as personal as all your most important private information, being that (especially without public network settings) it's a direct line to all of your devices and data. Sure, it's normal to let guests, friends, and family have access, but that remains pretty limited.
Despite their closeness in proximity to you, one of the parties that are probably never going to be allowed access to your wifi are your neighbors. They already know enough about you as it is through the sheer closeness of your living quarters, the last thing you need is for them to have backdoor access. Some people, though, don't seem to understand that handing out your WiFi password isn't like letting them borrow flour or sugar, even to the closest of neighbors.
